Join us for the NYC Citywide Transition Summit for High School Students & Families, hosted by New York City Public Schools’ Transition and College Access Centers, the NYCPS Special Education Office, the Transition Alliance, and The City University of New York (CUNY).

About The Transition Summit

This citywide event brings together schools, community partners, and service providers to help students with disabilities and their families prepare for life after high school. Families can explore college, career, employment, and independent living opportunities through resource tables, workshops, and consultations.

Schedule

Resource Fair (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM)

Located throughout the Mezzanine and 1st Floor (The Hound).


Visit over 60 organizations offering information, resources, and supports across key areas:
Internship, Training & Employment • Independent Living & Adult Services • College, Career & Training Programs • NYC Public Schools & Government Resources • Community & Advocacy Organizations

Workshops (10:30 AM – 1:30 PM, See Schedule)

Workshops are located in classrooms near The Hound area. Please look for posted signs for directions.

  1. College & Higher Education Pathways – Classroom A
    Sessions at 10:30 AM & 12:30 PM

    Explore college readiness, accommodations, and supports for students with disabilities, including a spotlight on CUNY programs.
  2. Pathways to Independent Living & Adult Services – Classroom B
    Sessions at 11:30 AM & 1:00 PM
    
Learn about independent living supports, self-advocacy, housing options, and service systems like OPWDD and ACCES-VR to prepare for life after high school and transition to adulthood.
  3. Transition Planning, Internships & Training – Classroom C
    Sessions at 10:30 AM & 12:30 PM

    Discover how to develop strong transition plans and connect students to real-world work experience by accessing support through NYCPS Transition and College Access Centers and their internship program offerings.
  4. Employment & Job Opportunities – Classroom D
    Sessions at 11:30 AM & 1:00 PM

    Join a panel with MOPD AT:WORK, Workforce1, Bridges from School to Work, and University Startups to learn about employment and entrepreneurship, including career exploration, job search, and applying for jobs.

Consultations (11:00 AM – 2:00 PM)

1-on-1 Consultations – Classrooms E & F (near the Hound area and workshops.
